Mass), in such areas as Fall / Winter Fastpitch Training Programs and
Softball Skills Clinics. in 2009, NWS Elite added a 16U team, and in late 2009, the Berkshire Blaze 18U organization, in existence for more that 12 years, joined forces with NWS Elite. In 2010 and 2011, NWS ELite added 12U and 14U teams to complete or goal of having a complete suite of teams from 12U through College level.
NWS
Elite's purpose is to provide an organization that promotes and utilizes
the game of Fastpitch Softball for the development of well rounded young
women, who will then be able to meet life's challenges. And to use our
organization, as well as it's past and present members, to assist these
young ladies as they begin their adult lives. In particular, our organization
tries to focus and assist girls at risk.
- What
are NWS Elite's Short term plans?
NWS
Elite's plan is to run our 12U, 14U, 16U, 18U and 23U Tournament Teams, and compete
in the best tournaments we can find in the New England area, each year.
In
addition, working with the Westfield Boys & Girls Club, it is NWS
Elite's intention to run a "Fastpitch Pitching Training Program",
and "Fastpitch Hitting Training Program"each year from September - April, for the purpose of developing pitchers, catchers and hitters (in the age groups on 8-23 years old), who can then compete
on local and tournament level teams each year with a high degree of success.
NWS Elite now has a complete "staircase" of Tournament Travel Level teams, from 12U - 23U, which allows fastpitch players from Western Mass and surrounding areas to advance through the age groups without having to change organizations.
NWS Elite also hopes to help the Westfield Boys & Girls Club field a team (or possibly two teams), in a local Girls Fastpitch
Softball League (Age Groups of 12U, 14U or 16U),
to grow local participation in the lower age groups, in the hopes of attracting girls at risk to participate and grow as players and individuals.
- What
are NWS Elite's Long term plans?
NWS
Elite's Long Term Plan is to continue to solidify the NWS Elite organization into a self sustaining league with teams in 12U, 14U, 16U, 18U and 23U, and a
self sustaining Softball Organization, run by former players and coaches,
who's purpose is focused on the betterment of the game of Fastpitch Softball,
and on all the individuals involved in our organization, past and present.
It
is our intention to utilize the talent and experience of the personnel
in our organization to help the "up and coming" coaches and
players to experience similar life learning events and challenges as those
that came before them, to grow to love and respect the game, and to then....pass
it on again.
It
should be noted that donations made to NWS Elite to support our programs,
may be tax deductible.

How
much does it cost to play on NWS Elite?
NWS Elite charges its players
a fee to play on the team (Determined annually). NWS Elite softball teams are operated NWS Elite Inc.
of Southwick, Mass in combination with the Boy's & Girls Club of Greater
Westfield. We solicit sponsorships, and donations for our teams, however these generally funds do not cover the
total cost of operating our teams each year.
To make up the difference, a player fee is charged. However, the
teams are allowed and encourage to fund raise as much as they wish to mitigate / eliminate the player fee. Our most common fund raising method in the past has
been a team "Program Guide". (However, other fund raising methods have
also been employed).
The Program Guide is designed to highlight each player via a "Player Profile" with
a photograph, basic information, academic and athletic achievements,
as well as goals.
Players raise money by securing sponsors for the Program Guide, which
are listed adjacent the player's profile.
The guide is distributed to
college coaches at tournaments and NWS Elite events, is available to each player
for college recruiting purposes, and is available to the general public.
This basic information is most often provided on line via the NWS Elite web
site to allow college coaches to review potential player information for
recruiting purposes. The site also provides secure E Mail addresses to
allow coaches to easily contact potential student athletes, to help facilitate
the recruiting process.

NWS Elite a non-profit organization?
Yes. NWS Elite is a qualified
non-profit organization. This means that donations to NWS Elite for it's Softball program
may be deductible as charitable donations.

Does
NWS Elite accept tax-deductible donations from the general public or businesses
for the team?
Yes we do. If the donor wishes, we
can match a donor with a player and list the donor/business in the NWS
Elite Program Guide, explained above. However, anonymous donations are
also welcomed. All donations help defer the costs of the program. If you
wish to sponsor a player please click here.
General team donations can be made sent to "NWS Elite, Inc. 24 South View Dr., Southwick, Ma. 01077". Please note "NWS Elite Softball"
on the memo section of your check. Thanks to all our donors for all your
support!

Does
NWS Elite assist its players with College recruiting?
Yes. NWS Elite has a solid record of placing its players in college,
and in college softball programs. (See the "Hall
of Fame" section of the NWS Elite Web site).
Over the years, the NWS Elite coaching staff has developed a recruiting process
and procedure that involves the players, parents and coaches. All NWS Elite
players are exposed to the process and procedure each year, as an integral
part of the NWS Elite softball program.
As mentioned above, in the past, player information
is also provided to college coaches via our "Program Guide"
and on line via the NWS Elite web site. This allows college coaches to
review potential player information for recruiting purposes. The site
also provides secure E Mail addresses that allow coaches to easily contact
potential student athletes, to help facilitate the recruiting process.
Players that wish to pursue college and college softball are assisted
to the maximum extent possible.

What
is the NWS Elite time commitment to the team?
For the most part, NWS Elite is a year round softball program that believes in instruction, proper
training and practice to achieve success.
The NWS Elite season begins in the fall with tryouts that last for several
weeks, followed by a short fall ball season through approximately mid
October. Saturday and Sunday are typically the days utilized for practice/games
in the fall.
Our winter indoor season begins
in November and includes both indoor training sessions and indoor games / tournaments.
Because of association with the Westfield Buy & Girls Club, we have access to safe and modern practice facility (including a 12,000 sq .ft.
gym and indoor hitting cage).
Our
winter season typically runs through early March, and coincides with the
start of the High School season.
For our older teams, our summer season begins in
early June and runs through the end of July/early August. Our summer season
typically includes the Fort Devens NSA jamboree, the Pennsbury College
Showcase Tournament in Pennsylvania, the Tradition College Showcase, The NSA Worth College Showcase, perhaps the
NSA State Championships and/or the ASA State Championships, and the PONY Nationals or NSA National Championships. Depending on the situation, we could also attend the ASA
National Championships, or the NSA "Supers", which NWS Elite won an invitation
to in 2002. (held in Las Vegas).
<top>
Can
you play other sports while on an NWS Elite team?
Yes. NWS Elite defers team commitment for several legitimate reasons. These
include family commitments, academics, school sports, religious activities,
or any other player responsibility. All we ask is that players communicate
with us, to allow us to plan around their obligations.
<top>
What
are the parents expected to pay for participation on a NWS Elite team?
NWS Elite parents are expected to cover the costs of lodging and food for
their family and their players for our summer tournament season, with
the exception of the trip to the national tournament, where NWS Elite assists in covering the
costs for players (via fund raising) for the
families.
<top>
I
heard that NWS Elite players have curfews when they go to tournaments.
Is that true?
NWS Elite believes that you cannot perform your best without a good nights
sleep. For this reason, NWS Elite usually travels to the tournament sites the
night before our first game, and players are required to be in their
rooms at a reasonable time (set by the coaching staff) to insure they
get enough rest
to play at the top of their game.
<top>
Does
NWS Elite promise playing time to players?
No. NWS Elite believes in putting the "best nine" on the field for each game.
No
promises are made to players for playing time, positions, etc.
<top>
Once
you make an NWS Elite team, can you get cut the next year?
NWS Elite general policy is to be loyal to players that have made the team. Therefore,
we generally do not cut players from the team that participated the previous year,
provided that they continue to participate within the policies of the
team.
This is not, however, a promise of playing time.
