Marisa
@ American International College (AIC)
In January of 2005, Marisa joined the American International College "Yellow Jackets" Divison 2 Collegiate Softball program in Springfield, Mass., under Coach Judy Groff, and Assistant Coach Bill Bedard. Marisa has now completed her Collegiate career, capturing the best ERA on the team in her senior season.
Summary of Marisa's Softball Accomplishments
During her 8 Years of softball prior to college, Marisa attained a career pitching record of 120-35, pitching in 182 games, 957 1/3 innings, allowing 527 hits, while striking out 1,391 batters, with an ERA of 1.03. Her combined batting average was .443 in 408 games with 309 RBI's, an on base percentage of .502, and a slugging percentage of .631.
Her High School career included a 27-8 record, with 478 strike outs in 278 innings, 60 walks, a .388 career batting average, making the Western Mass Semi Finals two consecutive years, while attaining two consecutive "All Western Mass First Team" Awards and one Second Team award. Although her High School teams always had at least two quality pitchers, Marisa led her team her last three years in appearances, innings pitched, strikeouts, fewest walks, and ERA.
At the "Tournament Team" level, Marisa played in 143 tournament games, pitching 54 of them, with a record of 23-15, 291 2/3 innings, allowing 206 hits and striking out 265, with and ERA of 1.92. During this period, Marisa played in national tournaments in PONY and NSA organizations, her last five consecutive years.
Summer Season Highlights
Marisa was privileged to play on two summer tournament teams during her last five softball seasons that allowed her to play in more than 30 summer tournaments. The teams included the Holy Name Sting and NWS Elite.
During the 2002 season, Marisa helped NWS Elite achieve a 22-17-1 record, with a 4th place finish in the NSA Massachusetts State Championships (qualifying for a berth in the NSA World Series), a 5th place finish in the Massachusetts ASA State Championships (Qualifying for the ASA N.E. Regionals) and a 5th place finish in the ASA New England Regional Championships.
Marisa (#13 - back row, far right) also helped NWS Elite place 13th out of 86 teams in the NSA World Series in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The highest finish in NWS Elite history, and perhaps the highest finish in Western Mass 18U history!
